So it started yesterday when my PC was working soo slowly that I finally decided to reinstall Windows on it. Called up a friend, he gave me a CD, I came home succesfully reinstalled windows.
Now the fun part comes, I usually do not make backups of thing (maybe pics but not this time). I’m always downloadin everything because I have a high speed internet connection (*shows off*). After I finished installing windows, I installed the drivers for my sound and video card, LAN driver installed… all ready for burning the cables (downloading) but then it happened the internet wasn’t working. Its ok I say to myself, I’ll just phone the customer support office and they will fix it in no time. I will try to reproduce the conversation between me (A) and the support lady (B), but before I will mention that the lady knew everything about PC’s but nothing about what I was interested in.
B: Good day, my name is “X’ what can I help you with?
A: Good day my name is X, I stay on the Y street number Z. I would like to report to you that my internet connection is not working.
B: What name is the contract on?
A: Z, X
B: OK, does it give some error?
A: NO
B: Can you connect?
A: YES
B: Do you have a firewall ?
A: YES, the one from windows xp!
B: do you have an antivirus?
A: NO, i could not download.
B: i cannot believe you really risk a lot connecting to the internet without an antivirus.
A; lady , from where should i get an antivirus? i need the internet first.
B: ok, let us see. turn off the firewall and try again.
A: its not working.
B: ok then, do this: start -> settings -> control panel-> network connections, what do you see?
A: my internet connection and my L.A.N. card
B: ok, then lets recreate the internet connection. go to, start-> …..
A: i’m done.
B: with what?
A: i recreated my internet connection
B: why don’t you listen to me? i’m trying to get your internet fixed here!
A: lady you are not trying to fix my internet here! you are trying to make me look an idiot so you can tell me that the problem is in my PC and not at your equipment. just get it fixed or i’ll tell my father about it. bye bye.
OK, about this: first off all I understand that she has to do everything with detail, but every time I phone them they tell me to do the same (3x a week), it gets annoying. The other part is (its maybe my luck) I always get ladies on the phone who knows shit about networking but works there because she is the daughter of who knows who.
Probably people who read this post won’t understand why am I so pissed off about them, lets just say that: They always try to make you believe that you have a problem with your PC and when they see it doesn’t work they say its a technical problem in your zone they will fix it.
Anyway this happens when there is only one Internet Service Provider on the market.
